Marking Sir Elton John’s 80th birthday on March 25, 2027, “Rocket Man – The Elton John Biopical” celebrates its world premiere in Cologne and continues from May with a major tour across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This two-hour production by hit producer Oliver Forster blends biographical drama with spectacular concert moments, bringing Elton John’s extraordinary life story and musical legacy back to the stage.
From the first steps of the shy Reginald Kenneth Dwight at the piano to the breakthrough in the early 1970s and on to iconic performances at the Troubadour, Madison Square Garden with John Lennon, the Dodger Stadium and Live Aid: “Rocket Man” vividly recreates defining milestones with elaborate projections, faithful costumes and an immersive concert atmosphere. Global hits such as “Rocket Man,” “Your Song,” “Tiny Dancer,” “Bennie and the Jets,” “Crocodile Rock,” “Candle in the Wind” and “I’m Still Standing” are performed live by a top-tier rock band.
At its core is the creative partnership with Bernie Taupin: lyrics and music often arise separately — two rooms, two worlds — merging into songs of enduring resonance. “Rocket Man” also reveals the personal highs and lows behind the fame and bridges to the 2022 farewell shows at the Dodger Stadium.
In the title role, C.J. Marvin shines — known for his vibrant costumes and live piano playing — supported by a five-piece live band and a first-class ensemble.
