THE INTERNATIONAL METAL ELITE AT ROCKAVARIA: IRON MAIDEN + NIGHTWISH, IGGY POP, SABATON, SLAYER & MANY OTHERS NOW CONFIRMED!
It will be loud, it will be hard, it will be great at ROCKAVARIA in the Munich Olympiapark from May 27 to 29, 2016. The DEAG Festival is taking shape; the fans can look forward to more of the very best the international world of Rock & Metal has to offer.
Apart from the undisputed grand masters of Heavy Metal, Iron Maiden, more than a dozen top-class acts have now been confirmed, including the number one bands Nightwish, Slayer, In Extremo and Powerwolf. Further super bands like Sabaton, Mando Diao, Anthrax, Ghost, Tremonti, Gojira, The Wild Lies, The Raven Age and Iggy Pop (only one show in Germany, at ROCKAVARIA) are likewise part of the line-up.
Many of these bands are regularly at the top of the charts. Slayer, the uncontested power in Thrash Metal, for instance, has even conquered the pole position in Germany with its new album “Repentless” and ensures full houses and painful necks on its current tour. The Finnish Nightwish have been regularly ranking amongst the top 3 during the past decade and are rightly considered to be the unchallenged kings (plus queen) of Symphonic Metal, whilst Sabaton promises classical head banger stuff with guaranteed partying. From Germany the successful Medieval Rockers In Extremo are on the roster, just as Powerwolf who have developed into the high flyers of the scene with their epic, highly melodious Heavy Metal plus big show. More Thrash comes from Anthrax, one of the legendary “Big Four” of the genre, who have been style-defining since the ‘eighties. The New Yorkers will have their new album “For All Kings” ready for next summer, which insiders consider already as one of the most important Metal albums for 2016. Behind Tremonti in turn there is no one less than Alter Bridge/Creed lead guitarist Mark Tremonti with his Metal solo band.
Comparatively relaxed but nonetheless highly successful sounds come from the Pop Rockers Mando Diao from Sweden (‘Dance with Somebody’. The category “Modern and Hard” is represented by the French Gojira, who bear not only the name of a famous monster but also sound like one.
Since the 1960s Iggy Pop is praised by his fans as one of the most eccentric artists ever thanks to his dynamic and excessive presence on stage and will do us the honors in Munich.
A lot of rumors have also grown around the faceless ghouls of Ghost, who make their gruesome Classic Rock even more fascinating. With The Wild Lies and The Raven Age two newcomer favorites from Great Britain are on the program. And of course, the winners of this year’s band contest tuXedoo will be performing in Munich again.
They join Iron Maiden, who can only be experienced on their “The Books of Soul” world tour at our Festivals, apart from the sold-out Wacken and Berlin concerts! The band will fly to the Festivals with its own Jumbo, piloted by vocalist Bruce Dickinson. The Jumbo Jet, christened “Ed Force One”, will carry the musicians, the crew and the entire equipment over a distance of 90,000 km to 35 countries. The British Heavy Metal legends recently climbed with their album immediately to the top of the charts in more than 40 countries.
